About Viltr
Viltr makes acoustic walls and products from 100% recycled PET-felt. Designed, CNC-cut and installed from our own workshop in Hellevoetsluis, the Netherlands.
The story
Interiors keep getting sleeker. Poured floors, glass facades, open spaces. Beautiful to look at, but everything that used to absorb sound is gone. Homes, offices and restaurants echo.
The existing solutions? Grey suspended ceilings. Or wooden slat walls, where the funny thing is: the wood does nothing acoustically. The only part that works is the thin felt panel behind it.
So that is where we started, in 2019. We left out the slats and built with the part that works. We focus entirely on one material: 9 mm PET-felt, made from shredded PET bottles. Each sheet contains about 150 of them.
By now, thousands of living rooms, offices and restaurants have one of our walls. And new ones are added every day.
What we do
On viltstore.com you can order our designs directly: complete walls, grooved panels, hexagons, circles and decoration. In 28 colours, cut to size for you, installed yourself in an afternoon.
For architects, interior stylists and businesses we make custom walls. From a CNC-cut logo to a complete wall as a work of art, nested to the millimetre. Design, production and installation from one partner.
We help brands with an idea for a felt product go from sketch to series. Under their own name or in co-creation. Product development with PET-felt is a craft of its own, and it is where we feel at home.
The team
Viltr is a team of about ten people at the Hopperweg in Hellevoetsluis. Designers, makers and thinkers, all under one roof. Every panel is cut only after you order. No stock from a distant warehouse, but freshly cut felt from our own workshop.
Sustainability
Our felt is made entirely from recycled PET bottles. We nest every design digitally to minimise cutting waste, produce locally, and at the end of its life the panel is simply recyclable again. Beautiful material should not cost the earth.
